The GenBody FIA fSAA is a fluorescence immunoassay (FIA) based rapid diagnostic test (RDT) intended for quantitative detection of Serum Amyloid A (SAA) in serum or plasma (EDTA, heparin or sodium citrate treated) from feline (cat). The inflammatory response refers to the phenomenon where fever, increased blood flow, swelling, etc., occur due to inflammatory cytokines secreted by immune cells. Acute-phase proteins refer to proteins whose concentrations in the blood increase due to the elevation of inflammatory cytokine. In cats, a major acute-phase rotein is Serum Amyloid A(SAA), characterized by the following: 1. Present in very low concentrations even in healthy individuals. 2. Begins to be produced 4 hours after immune stimulation, reaching its peak between 21 to 48 hours. 3. Returns to normal levels within 7 days if there is no further stimulation. When SAA increases, diseases that appear in cats include Acute pancreatitis, feline infectious peritonitis, immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, enteritis, lung cancer, chronic renal failure, lymphoma, cholangitis, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, etc..
