Streptococcus pharyngitis is a pharyngitis caused by infection with group A streptococcus. Common symptoms include fever, sore throat, tonsillitis, and swelling of lymph nodes in the neck. It may be accompanied by headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Some patients develop sandpaper called scarlet fever or a rash similar to chicken flesh. In general, symptoms appear about 1 to 3 days after exposure to pathogens and symptoms last about 7 to 10 days.
